Job description
We are seeking an experienced Solar Power and Electrical Technician to install, wire, test, and maintain solar power systems and related electrical components. The successful candidate will work with solar panels, batteries, inverters, chargers, control systems, and vehicle or caravan electrical installations. The role requires practical electrical knowledge, safe working practices, and the ability to troubleshoot systems independently.Responsibilities
- Install and wire solar panels, batteries, inverters, chargers, controllers, and related equipment.
- Install complete solar power systems in caravans, trailers, vehicles, buildings, or other applications.
- Carry out DC and AC electrical wiring according to approved specifications.
- Connect battery management systems, distribution boards, fuses, breakers, switches, and monitoring equipment.
- Test, commission, and troubleshoot solar and electrical systems.
- Identify wiring faults, voltage issues, poor connections, and system failures.
- Install cable conduits, cable trays, terminals, connectors, and protective devices.
- Perform system inspections, maintenance, repairs, and upgrades.
- Read electrical diagrams, wiring diagrams, and installation instructions.
- Ensure all installations are neat, secure, correctly labelled, and safe.
Requirements
- Proven practical experience as a solar power or electrical technician.
- Experience installing solar panels, batteries, inverters, chargers, and electrical accessories.
- Previous experience with caravans, trailers, vehicles, or mobile power systems is highly preferred.
- Relevant electrical, solar, or renewable energy qualification is an advantage.
- Knowledge of 12V, 24V, and 240V systems is preferred, where applicable.
- Ability to read and understand electrical and wiring diagrams.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to work independently and safely.
